FAQs

Who are you?

My name is Gretchen.  I am a 20 something with a goal.  My goal?  To get to a healthy weight and learn new things about myself as I get there!  My healthy weight goal is 130-125 lbs since my height is 5'00''.

What is your plan?

My original plan was to do Medifast.  I had a friend that had a lot of success with the plan and I was onboard for a new weight loss plan that might actually work!  Sticking to a restrictive diet is hard though so I am doing my best to get to my goal by mainly keeping my calories in less than my calories out.  My daily goal is to have a 1000 calorie deficit while still balancing nutrition.  I also work out about 6 days a week between running, rowing, and yoga.

What diet plans had you tried before?

I had tried the calorie counting but not caring what I was eating.  I ate a lot of carbs and that was basically it and it didn't work.  I tried the diet pills from hydroxicut to Garcinia Cambogia.  I even tried the coffee pills and colon cleanser routine.  Needless to say it didn't work.  I wanted the easy diet plan and there is no such thing.  Nothing beats nutritional dieting and exercising!

What is Medifast?  What is the 5&1 plan?

Medifast is a diet program that is basically low carb (<80 a day) with protein in every meal.  The goal is to get into a fat burning stage or as many people know it as ketosis.  This is a diet plan with powder meals that you just add water and heat up in the microwave.  You have 5 of the purchased powder meals and then you have a 1 larger meal with a lean protein and low carb vegetables.  The idea is to eat the small purchased meals every 2-3 hours to keep your body fueled and to keep from getting hungry.

How much is Medifast?

You buy boxes that consist of 6 meals in each box.  These boxes are a little over 6 dollars a box.  All you have to buy at the store is really just your one lean and green meal ingredients.

How did you start running?

I started running with the couch to 5k app from Active.  I really recommend this app!  This app really gets you comfortable running for a longer period of time.  I remember running for a minute and thinking I was going to die.  You may think that there is no way that you will ever enjoy running  and that all those runners are crazy people.  Believe me I thought that too and now I actually enjoy running!  I enjoy the time to myself and the chance to get outside and explore.  Lace up and believe that you can do anything!

What do you do in the Rowing class?

I go Rowing at a place called Row zone it is a small company with only a couple locations.  The class consists of rowing on the stationary rowing machines to get your heart rate up and then you hop off and complete exercises such as sit ups, push ups, lunges, squats and many more!  Its like having a personal trainer but in a group setting because they really push you and that's what I need!
